This month on our blog we are featuring GAMMA’s VP of Marketing and Supply Chain, Josh Taylor-Martin. Read the interview below to learn more about Josh!
What is your job role at GAMMA and how long have you worked here?
My role is Vice President of Marketing and Supply Chain. (It’s long, I know.) I have been at GAMMA Sports for 5 ½ years.
How did you come to work for GAMMA?
I used to work with our VP of Sales, Patrick, at a high-tech baby gear company in Pittsburgh. As much as I loved my time there, when an opportunity came up to slide over to GAMMA Sports to help grow and shape the entry into pickleball- I couldn’t help myself.
What is your favorite part about working at GAMMA?
My favorite part has evolved over time. Because GAMMA is a small company, there is a different kind of accountability for decisions that are made. If you make a bad choice, there’s nowhere to hide. However, if you make a great choice or develop something amazing and then see it hit the market, it’s an amazing feeling. In my role now, I get to see everyone I work with have that same kind of moment and it’s so fantastic to feel that through the team that I get to work with. What are three words you’d use to describe GAMMA?
Scrappy, Team-focused, Driven.
Do you play tennis or pickleball?
I do! I play pickleball, but I am still working on my tennis game. (I grew up playing baseball, so I have a tendency to put way too much effort into each swing.)
What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?
I like to spend time with my family and friends- playing games, watching movies, exercising together or Dungeons and Dragons. I also enjoy a healthy dose of theatre in my life because that was the focus of my education.
What is something that people would be surprised to know about you?
My first job was detasseling corn. (Might not be that surprising after learning I grew up in rural Nebraska.)If you were stuck on an island and could only have three items, what would they be?
I’ve watched enough Naked and Afraid to know that I need a good sharp knife and a firestarter. The third item would have to be a bottomless pot of coffee.
What is a quote you live by?
If you asked my kids, it would probably be, “The reward for good, hard work is more work.”
